How Much Does a Live Wedding Painter Cost?

Pricing is one of the first things couples want clarity on, and rightly so.

Live wedding painting is an investment that reflects experience, time, and care.
To commission a professional live wedding painting generally sits in the several thousand dollar range, depending on the size of the painting, travel, and the level of detail involved.

A few things will influence the price:

• the size and complexity of the artwork

• time spent painting on the day

• studio refinement after the wedding

• professional, archival materials

• Most importantly the career & expertise of the artist

For myself, I have a career as a professional fine artist spanning over a decade, this means, shows, gallery exhibitions, fine art collectors both nationally and internationally, commission work, workshops, teaching etc.

What that means for you is that my prices are one for one my gallery rates and commissioned work rates. No wedding tax, no fluff, no guess work.

This being the reason why I personally list all my prices on my website clear to see, they’re not a scaled slider depending on who’s asking or what season it is. They’re prices based over a decade of professional practice.

As for logistics of travel I charge at cost what it is for the fuel, flights, accommodation, rental car, shipping etc. Whatever it takes to get me, myself and I to your wedding to create a work of art for you.

A quick thing to watch for: if an artist can’t provide clear pricing, or relies on vague statements like “my research shows a range,” it often signals pricing that isn’t firmly justified. This is commonly seen in services that apply a broad “wedding tax” rather than transparent, experience-based rates.
