How Long Does a Live Wedding Painting Take?

Many couples assume a live wedding painting is finished on the day. While for some that may be the case but for those looking for a full commission experienced with a further refined and finished painting then this is what I do.

My live wedding painting does not begin and end on the same day.
In fact some of my packages have ‘pre-wedding paintings’ which are completed prior to the wedding to be displayed on the night.

On your wedding day, I’ll get the painting to a near finished quality before the end of the night, something that has the main elements of the painting clearly rendered out and the background usually more or less still blocked in.

Typically I’ll arrive at the wedding 2 hours prior to anything beginning, set up, and then either during the ceremony, or while your photographer takes you away for photos I’ll come along and be taking reference photos for the night to paint from.

Once the night is over I’ll take the painting back to the studio for further work. This process usually takes several weeks, depending on the size and complexity of the painting.

Taking this time is what allows the final artwork to feel thoughtful and finished to a standard and quality that is reflective of my decade long practice and abilities as an artist.

The studio painting process is documented and you’re kept up to date with all work made, you’re made aware of the completed work before delivery for approval by yourself and partner.

Once done I’ll seal the painting with archival grade varnish (this can be removed for repairs to the painting in a few hundred years if needed)

Over all a painting shouldn’t take up any schedule time from your busy day, It’ll be started and worked to a near finish on the night and further studio work will take it to completion.
