How Far in Advance Should We Book a wedding painting?
This is one of the most important questions to ask when it comes to live wedding painting, and it’s often the one couples leave a little too late.
Typically you’ll have your venue booked first and then a wedding painter comes anytime after.
If you’re very excited by and want a specific live wedding painter at your wedding, some couples reach out first for what dates are available with the artist to make sure they can have them at their wedding.
Most couples book their live wedding painter somewhere between nine and eighteen months in advance. Popular dates, especially Saturdays during peak wedding season, tend to book out first.
A few things that affect availability:
• the time of year you’re getting married
• whether your wedding falls on a popular weekend
• the size and complexity of the painting
• travel requirements, especially for destination weddings
• the style of package you’ve chosen.
The style of commission really matters for me personally as I have four different path ways to choose from and two of which have pre-wedding painting options involved with it.
Especially my highest tier that has a full on private painting from life portrait session of both yourself and partner. I can only take on about four of those per year.
With those options its important to reach out as soon as you can so that those pre-wedding painting aspects can be completed in time to be displayed at your wedding along side the live wedding painting aspect of the night.
Once a date is booked, it’s reserved exclusively for that couple. I don’t double book or squeeze in additional weddings in or around that date. I have a strict five couples per month rule to ensure quality, care and control.
If you’re early in the planning process and even slightly considering a live wedding painting, it’s worth reaching out sooner rather than later.
You don’t need to have everything figured out yet. A simple conversation can help you decide if it feels right for your day. I do prefer that you have a venue pre-booked before contacting me as it will help to mitigate any dates that may class in case your date changes and falls on another booking of mine but if you’d like to double check if I can accommodate before you lock in a date, I’m more than happy to let you know.
If you’d like to check availability for your wedding date or talk through whether live wedding painting is a good fit for you, you’re very welcome to get in touch.
At the bottom of my Weddings page there’s a form place to do so, this makes sure I see your email as soon as its in.
